Backpack fishing

Guys, I live in the Southwest of America, Arizona. We do have forests and cool mountain streams, and tout. I am going to be doing a little hike-thru fishing, camping out, carrying everything on my back. I have collected very lightweight materials, sleeping bag, solo tent, light stove, etc. Anybody into this sort of thing here? I am also fishing with a pack bamboo rod made by a friend, a 661511 (Dickerson 3-piece 6'6" 4-weight) and a Tenkara rod. Really looking forward to the new season. Mats comes around my spot a lot, I'm going to try to visit over here a bit more. Take care and let me know if you guys stay out overnight from a backpack. adam

Adam.
Good to see you post here. Not too much traffic here as on the Swedish speaking side.
I hope you´ll get some good answers though, as the backpacking fishing thing is what many fly fishermen do here. For a very long time the high country up north have been subject to fishing trips back-packing style and loads of books has been written about it. As for myself, I did it frequently until I became a father and I haven´t been up the high mountain streams and lakes since then. I do hope that Anders will be interested as we probably will spend a good amount of time at the mountain cabin which is right on the Scandinavian mountain range.
As for gear, I used a 80 litre Fjällräven backpack and a lightweght tent, Fjällräven sleeping bag and a thin foam mattress (which was later replaced with a Thermarest self inflating thing) Together with a Trangia kitchen, food, extra clothes, rod/fishing gear and all that it was a heavy load and I don´t think I would manage these days, with my 53 years of age, a bad knee and not that good physics as back then.
Now, I never went on those trips alone. We were mostly a party of four guys. It never occured to me to go by myself. Too many things that could have gone wrong.

Cool, I am happy that I am not all alone in wanting to do this.
I will report with a story and images here when I get done, still have a few weeks of cold weather and things start to warm...
